ETI's GD&T Trainer 3.5 Adds Design Software, Overview Course, and More

GD&T Trainer Professional Edition software update adds more features, a reference tool, and a new overview course option.

WESTLAND, Michigan — The Fundamentals of GD&T Professional Edition software (based on ASME Y14.5M-1994) is a comprehensive computer-based training program that teaches the fundamentals of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing right on your desktop. The program contains 28 lessons covering the basic rules, definitions, and concepts of GD&T. It provides instant feedback; detailed, full-color lesson screens; 3-D solid part samples; and technical animations that demonstrate concepts.

ETI's Version 3.5 software release now supports Windows Vista and Windows 64-bit operating systems. Other improvements include more than 200 hotwords cross-referenced to the Digital Design Dictionary; updated graphics, audio files, and lesson answers; an easier software registration process; and the addition of more 35 illustrations in the Digital Design Dictionary.

Owners of LAN, site, and corporate licenses also receive a new reference program and an overview course. The GD&T Quick Reference is a tool that contains 220 topics covering all aspects of the fundamentals of GD&T. Each topic page shows a detailed graphic and full explanation of the concept. Key GD&T terms are cross-referenced with the Digital Design Dictionary and to paragraphs in the ASME Y14.5M-1994 Dimensioning and Tolerancing Standard.

The GD&T Overview Course is a 10-lesson course that provides a general overview of the symbols, modifiers, rules and concepts used in geometric tolerancing. The course includes quizzes, and the approximate completion time is 5 hours.

ETI has been in the GD&T training business for over 20 years. They provide hands-on workshops at locations around the world. ETI offers skills testing with every workshop, and all of their courses can be customized to include a company's drawings and parts. ETI's System Approach to Component Tolerancing Course Changes the Way Engineers Think About Part Tolerancing

Students perform a design function analysis on a company part assembly, then specify GD&T on assembly components during this new hands-on workshop.

WESTLAND, Michigan - Effective Training Inc., a leader in the field of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), has created a new course that teaches the system approach to component design. The workshop examines the thought processes involved in assigning GD&T to components and can change the way many engineers think about part tolerancing.

The three-day workshop is designed for product engineers, designers, checkers, and engineering managers.

"The workshop focuses on understanding what constitutes good and poor drawing practices and the common dimensioning methods used in industry," said course designer and ETI president Alex Krulikowski. "It also teaches how to use geometric tolerancing to communicate system functions on component dimensions."

The students work in teams and actually create GD&T tolerance mark-ups of their company parts in class. The course is available through onsite and public workshops.

ETI is an international supplier of GD&T training and design resources, including software, books, videos and teaching materials.
